Chinese New Year

We brought Kendrick out for the first time on our own during the Chinese New Year period. His first outing with us was on Chinese New Year eve, where we prepared to go to Dear's grandma's house for reunion dinner. Our timing seems to revolve a lot around baby now. As we were about to leave for dinner, he started to cry frantically for milk. As a result, we had to 'settle' him first before we went and when we did, he ended up sleeping peacefully the journey there and back! Even at Chris grandma house, Kendrick slept. That certainly made things easier for us!

On the first day of Chinese New Year, again we had to try to get Kendrick ready for going out by lunch time. We gave him a last feed just before going out and again, he ended up sleeping all the way from the time we went out, to my grandma's place and then back, just in time for his next feed. In the evening, when we went to my other grandma's place for dinner, it was the same thing! Quite fortunate that he did not start to cry frantically. But anyway, Dear and I felt that we have to prepare lots of baby stuff to bring out just in case they were all needed, even if we were to go out for a short while only!

Finally a proper shot with our baby..can't believe we never really took one where it was just the 3 of us till now...

Kendrick's First Month Celebration (3 Feb 08)

We celebrated Kendrick's first month on 3 Feb, which was a few days in advance as 7 Feb (actual 1 month) was the first day of Chinese New Year. We ordered buffet lunch and invited mainly family members and mostly Dear's friends and colleagues, plus a couple of my friends. Our little humble abode was thus full of people that afternoon and everyone came to see the 'star' of the day. Surprisingly, Kendrick was pretty much awake the whole afternoon. I suppose he sort of knew that there were lots of people around him as he could not fully sleep. He only took short naps when Dear or myself or my family members were carrying him. It was also good that he was alert that day so that he can at all the different faces that came to see him. Dear was quite busy that day entertaining most of his friends, so in the end, we did not manage to take a lot of photos. Here's just some of the key pictures...

Indeed, it was a tiring afternoon for all of us. By the time everyone left and we could rest, it was Kendrick's feeding time again. He finally took a nap in the evening after that and it was time for us to have our dinner. In a way, Dear and I were glad the day was over. But more importantly, we were glad that these 4 weeks that passed by had been quite well for me and baby. There were cranky times in between of course, but it was all a learning experience. Going forward, I will have to learn to take care of Kendrick on my own for half a day as my mother-in-law has finished doing the confinement for me and would not be staying over anymore. Hopefully I can cope! But I'm also looking forward to it :)
