Gathering at June's Place (20 Dec 2008)

We were invited to June's new home for a simple lunch gathering recently and although there were just a few of us, it was still a cosy time to catch up. It's the first time we went to her place and I must say it was nicely done up and looks good. We brought Kendrick along too and he too had a good time crawling and playing on this platform area in the living room, despite a slight fall as well! In fact, Kendrick was generally quite well-behaved and 'displayed' funny actions like clapping his hands when all of us clapped with him :) He also had a nice time playing with Michelle's hubby, Cyril. Here's some photos....

Phyllis Birthday Celebration (13 Oct 2008)

We celebrated Phyllis birthday at my PIL home as it was a week day. So after work we all had a nice dinner at home and then it was birthday cake cutting time. Look at how mischievious Kendrick looked in the shot with his aunt and uncle.... :P

Dinner Outing (10 Oct 2008)

Dear and I were on a few days leave the last few days and on Friday, we dropped Kendrick off at my PIL home in the afternoon while we went dating. Hehe...actually nothing much la, just spending some alone time with each other. Headed to Vivocity and caught the movie WALL-E. It's been showing for quite some time already so we quickly caught it before it ends its run. I quite like the movie and I'm pretty impressed by the animation involved. Feel good movie indeed. After that, we did a bit of shopping before finally settling on dinner at Tajimaya restaurant for some nice Yakiniku :) It's not very cheap, but we decided to indulge anyway since it's been some time since we did! It was also a way to celebrate our belated '7 year dating annivesary'!!

In the end, we were very happy with the meal...the beef was really delicious :) Luckily, did not feel that oily or smelly even though it was charcoal grill style eating. With that, we headed back to pick our Darling baby home and savour some Ben & Jerry's for dessert (Giant was having some offer for 2 tubs which we bought) :P

We decided to order Alacarte instead of their set and here's the really tasty Wagnu beef plate!

My Mum's Birthday

Celebrated my mum's birthday in advance by having dinner with my parents this evening. We went to Grand Shanghai restaurant and boy was it fully packed. Anyway, Kendrick was quite well behaved while we ate. He sat in the baby seat and played his toy till finally he got tired and wanted his milk. He He... Anyway, the food was pretty tasty, plus the 'live' music really adds to the Shanghai feeling :)

Singapore Garden Festival (25 July 2008)

I managed to get free tickets to the Singapore Garden Festival and so we decided to head there on Friday when Dear and I were on leave. Although we are not into landscaping and flowers, we still went anyway just to have a look and I must say, looking at the lovely orchids and interesting landscape designs, you sort of feel more tranquil and calmness. Fortunately, Kendrick was pretty well-behaved throughout. Perhaps he was also absorbing the view around him :)

Interesting 'tree of life'

This landscape design won some gold award and was like the centrepiece where everyone was snapping their cameras at.. haha..

Can you tell who is that?

Jodi's Birthday (21 Jun 2008)

It's been quite a few months since I updated this blog and gosh, time flies. It's already July! Yup, I've been too busy being Mummy to my dear Kendrick and also updating another baby blog of mine. Anyway, Kendrick is hitting the 6 months milestone next week!! It's been a real interesting journey so far and much more challenging to come I'm sure.

Anyway, recently my cousin Jodi celebrated her 16th birthday, so we finally had a chance to take a cousins picture together. This time, little Kendrick joins in too!! :)

My Birthday Weekend (13 - 15 Apr 2008)

I celebrated my birthday this year with both my family and in-laws together. We brought Kendrick out to Westlake restaurant for dinner since we have not gone there for quite some time. Kendrick seemed to end up the star of the whole dinner...inevitable I guess. Everyone said he was dressed so cute in this suspenders and top that my cousin Christina had bought for him when she came back in January. That was the first time I let Kendrick wear it too. Anyway, he was fairly well-behaved during the dinner although at one point he got frustrated and wanted to me to pat him to sleep. At least after that I managed to eat in peace for a while.

Then on a Monday, Dear and I were on leave. So we spent the evening at Vivocity along with Kendrick. Dear treated me to Italian food..something which I seem to have a craving for these days. Kendrick misbehaved a little though and we had to feed him his milk in between our meal. After that, he was better but still quite fidgety. Eventually he napped a while and by the time we reached home, he was awake again. So it was cake cutting time with Mummy!

And finally, my dear hubby surprised me with this lovely bouquet of flowers at work :) It certainly made my day.....

Kaden's First Month Celebration

Dear and I attended my friend's baby boy first month celebration this afternoon. After giving Kendrick his lunch time feed, we were finally ready head out to meet his 'baby friend' - Kaden Wong.

Us before heading out

While we were there, I caught up with some of my ex-colleagues and they happily took turns to carry Kendrick. Was quite glad that Kendrick was friendly as he smiled at one of my friend who smiled and talked to him. At the same time, he also looked quite dazed as it was also his nap time. Soon enough, he actually dozed off while one of my ex-colleague carried him, so we put him in the pram. Had a chat with Tracy and another ex-colleague who to my surprise, came with her second child, also a boy! What's more, he was born just a few weeks after Kendrick. Surprised indeed. Anyway, finally some parting shots before leaving....

Haircut

I went to get a haircut on Good Friday in preparation for going back to work at the end of this month. At the same time, we also brought Kendrick along for his first haircut. We didn't manage to do so during his first month so we decided that he should get a trim as well since his hair was growing a bit. We thus headed to Dear's aunt's shop before noon time and I had my hair done first his aunt helped to trim for Kendrick. Thankfully, Kendrick was pretty well-behaved throughout the haircut. He did fidget a little, but we tried our best to hold his head and prevent him from struggling or jerking too much.

Outings with Kendrick (11, 15 Mar 2008)

Dear was away on business trips twice so far since end Feb and early Mar, so when he came back from Chile recently, he took a day off so that we could go out with Kendrick. We took the opportunity to settle some stuff, like opening a kids bank account for Kendrick to save all his ang pow money....haha...then we went makan and shopping for a bit more baby stuff at Causeway Point's Kiddy Palace. Kendrick was quite well behaved until after our lunch. Somehow, he got hungry again just after 2 hours and we had no choice but to quickly find the nursing room to prepare to feed him. Unfortunately, he puked a bit too. Not too sure what happened to him today, but as a result, we had to change his outfit as well.

That's us before heading out

On the weekend, again we went out for lunch with Kendrick. I decided to let him wear a hat today and thought that he looked really cute in it. Haha. I still remember when I wore this hat during Chinese New Year, it was still a bit big for him, but now, it fits perfectly. Although it was just a short outing, Kendrick was able to nap while being pushed about in the pram as it was already after his milk time. So sleepy head in him took over and we were able to have our lunch in peace again...:)

Gathering at Cindy's Place (1 Mar 2008)

Another backdated blog entry...think it's going to be this way from now on. Haha... Anyway, just a few weekends back, one of my colleague organised a pot luck gathering at her home, so Dear and I brought Kendrick along to meet them as they were also looking forward to see my baby. There was lots of food and most of all, lots of kids! Yeh, this is my bunch of colleagues who are mostly parents of young children and everyone that had kids, brought them along. I guess Kendrick is the youngest there, as most of the kids are around 1- 3 yrs old. Nevertheless, there was something interesting I noticed - the parents would mostly have to settle the meals of their children first before they start eating. Also, it was a male-dominated environment among the children :) Yup, most of them have boys! Kendrick slept most of the time when we were there as we arrived after his milk time. It was only as we were about to leave that he woke up for this shot below...

Dear's Birthday (16 Feb 2008)

We celebrated Dear's birthday in advance with his family on a Friday by having steamboat dinner at his parent's place as it was easier to bring Kendrick there. Dinner was followed by cake-cutting session and a family photo :)

Then the next day which was Dear's actual birthday, we took a bit of time out together and went shopping for a while before having dinner at Bugis. Kendrick was left at Grandma's place for the time being. Certainly missed him even as we had our dinner alone together. Haha.....Back at home, we bought at little brownie - Happy Birthday Dar!

Valentine's Day (14 Feb 2008)

It's been some time since I last updated this blog as I've been rather busy looking after my little one at home. Anyway, this entry backdates to our V-day celebration. Dear took leave on V-day and went grocery shopping in the morning to prepare for our home cooked dinner while I was at home getting little Kendrick ready. We wanted to go out for lunch together and indeed we went somewhere nearby and had Sakae Sushi for lunch. The moment we reached the restaurant, it was Kendrick's feeding time already, so Daddy lovingly volunteered to feed him. After that, we ate our lunch quickly. Haha...At this point, we are still not quite used to bringing Kendrick out alone yet, so we had to eat fast in case he starts acting up and crying. Luckily in the end Kendrick was quite ok... when we pushed him around in the stroller after lunch, he was looking around curiously.

Getting ready in the morning

In the evening, Dear decided to cook for us as we seem to traditionally do during V-day. So here's our simple meal time together. Interestingly, Kendrick was really good. I gave him his milk around 5 plus in the evening and after that, he was so sleepy that he slept through our dinner time, giving us some time to breathe and have our meal peacefully! Hehe...

Some peaceful time together!

Chinese New Year

We brought Kendrick out for the first time on our own during the Chinese New Year period. His first outing with us was on Chinese New Year eve, where we prepared to go to Dear's grandma's house for reunion dinner. Our timing seems to revolve a lot around baby now. As we were about to leave for dinner, he started to cry frantically for milk. As a result, we had to 'settle' him first before we went and when we did, he ended up sleeping peacefully the journey there and back! Even at Chris grandma house, Kendrick slept. That certainly made things easier for us!

On the first day of Chinese New Year, again we had to try to get Kendrick ready for going out by lunch time. We gave him a last feed just before going out and again, he ended up sleeping all the way from the time we went out, to my grandma's place and then back, just in time for his next feed. In the evening, when we went to my other grandma's place for dinner, it was the same thing! Quite fortunate that he did not start to cry frantically. But anyway, Dear and I felt that we have to prepare lots of baby stuff to bring out just in case they were all needed, even if we were to go out for a short while only!

Finally a proper shot with our baby..can't believe we never really took one where it was just the 3 of us till now...

Kendrick's First Month Celebration (3 Feb 08)

We celebrated Kendrick's first month on 3 Feb, which was a few days in advance as 7 Feb (actual 1 month) was the first day of Chinese New Year. We ordered buffet lunch and invited mainly family members and mostly Dear's friends and colleagues, plus a couple of my friends. Our little humble abode was thus full of people that afternoon and everyone came to see the 'star' of the day. Surprisingly, Kendrick was pretty much awake the whole afternoon. I suppose he sort of knew that there were lots of people around him as he could not fully sleep. He only took short naps when Dear or myself or my family members were carrying him. It was also good that he was alert that day so that he can at all the different faces that came to see him. Dear was quite busy that day entertaining most of his friends, so in the end, we did not manage to take a lot of photos. Here's just some of the key pictures...

In the morning getting ready....

Me with June and KS

Indeed, it was a tiring afternoon for all of us. By the time everyone left and we could rest, it was Kendrick's feeding time again. He finally took a nap in the evening after that and it was time for us to have our dinner. In a way, Dear and I were glad the day was over. But more importantly, we were glad that these 4 weeks that passed by had been quite well for me and baby. There were cranky times in between of course, but it was all a learning experience. Going forward, I will have to learn to take care of Kendrick on my own for half a day as my mother-in-law has finished doing the confinement for me and would not be staying over anymore. Hopefully I can cope! But I'm also looking forward to it :)

Busy with my little one

Time flies quite fast. It's already 3 weeks since I've had my little one. So far, each day has settled into a routine during this confinement period. In the mornings, I would wake around 6plus am for his feed and after that if my baby naps, it will be time for me to have breakfast, clean up and get ready for more 'action'. My mother-in-law would usually bring him downstairs for a bit of sun-bathing while I eat, so that afterward, baby can rest before having his morning shower. The rest of the day just passes by quite quickly whenever it's feeding time. I admit that much as I really want to give my baby breastmilk for as long as I can during my maternity leave, I also feel like some 'milk machine'...lol...Every other 2-3 hours, it would be feeding time so it can be quite tiring! But I enjoy the bonding feeling very much....so hopefully it will be beneficial in some way.

Here are some photos of my boy which I managed to capture in the mornings when he is most awake and alert....

First weekend with baby at home (13 Jan 2008)

Our little one was actually admitted to hospital for photo-therapy due to his high jaundice level checked on 10 Jan. After 2 days of staying under the light, thankfully his jaundice level came down and we were able to have him home again on 12 Jan. As it turned out, it was quite a busy afternoon on Sunday as Dear's sister and hubby, my parents, my grandma all came to visit little Kendrick.

My grandma carrying Kendrick for the first time and that makes her Great-Grandma!
